Creating ‘Memories of Paris’

Each of the images in my ‘Memories of Paris’ series are from our last trip to Paris in 2017, when we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. It was our fifth trip to Paris.

However, I count my first time in Paris as 1945 when my parents met and were married in the American Cathedral there. They were both serving in the Army during WWII and were stationed in Paris.  I was born shortly after my parents returned to America.

The image above is from the series and is titled “Quai d’Anjou”.  It is where we stayed on our anniversary in Paris.  It is also where we visited our very good friends, Yan & Joan and their children when they lived there and we were all so much younger.  And so, this series is especially close to my heart.

There are a total of 9 images in the series. The photographs are all post-processed in the same style, giving them each a unique “ ink pen line & watercolor wash” look.

There is a memory for me behind each image. To read more about those memories go here.

The process I used to create the images in this series involved blending many filtered layers in Photoshop (and a lot of trial and error) to arrive at what you see in the series here.
