Art Exhibits

My image “Journey” was accepted into the “Of Time and Place” Juried Exhibit at Viewpoint in Sacramento. I am honored to have received the Curator’s Award. Click HERE to visit them.

I took this image in Amboseli in Kenya last fall as I was lying on my stomach in the dry lake bed after a dust storm, at sunset. It made for an amazing sky and dramatic light as the giraffe moved along the horizon. It felt like magic!

I titled it “Journey” because a group of giraffe while moving is called a “journey”. And it was an amazing journey for me in Kenya.

By the way: If the giraffe are standing still they are called a “tower”

So far, it is always a bit stressful to submit my work to juried exhibits. Viewpoint is one of my favorite galleries because it is purely for photography. There are very few of them in Northern California. The only other one I am aware of is in Carmel. It is the Center for Photographic Art and is strictly for fine art photography like the Viewpoint in Sacramento.

It meant so much to me to be recognized by the curators of the exhibit. I was proud to be among a large group of very talented photographers. Validation can fuel creativity.

Thank you, Viewpoint!
