About

Into the Wild Series

A woman with short gray hair and sunglasses walks on a dirt airstrip holding a smartphone. She has a camera strapped around her neck. In the background, there is a small white and brown airplane with 'Safarilink' written on the side. The landscape is dry with some trees and mountains in the distance under a cloudy sky.

Adventure in the Wild begins.

Journey into Kenya's serene landscapes, its majestic wildlife, and the harmonious interplay of light and color that gives rise to a magical world in this limited edition series.

This is my fourth African safari. As I step out of the bush plane in northern Kenya I am already thinking about when I can return.

“Kufurahia!” (“Enjoy” in Kiswahili.)

Lewa Conservancy

Lewa Conservancy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is made up of cedar forest, Savannah grassland, wetlands and steep valleys and hills.

Endangerd Wildlife

    Black Rhino

    Riticulated Giraffe

Likipia Plateau

When you think about a safari, you usually picture being in a Land Cruiser driving across the wilderness of Africa. However, there is another way to experience a safari.

Walking! or Riding a camel!

We did both in the northern part of Kenya called the Likipia Plateau.

It was breathtaking!

Four giraffes walking on a savanna at sunset with dramatic clouds and sun rays.

Amboseli Magic

A person with camera gear is sitting on dry, cracked earth with giraffes walking in the distance under a cloudy sky.

The “Golden Hour” in Amboseli is truly magical, lying flat on the dry salt lake bed, looking through my lens as a journey of giraffe walks along the horizon.

Amboseli National Park & Kitirua Conservancy

The name "Amboseli" comes from a Maasai word meaning "salty dust". It is in southeastern Kenya and is a land of arid areas dry lake beds mixed with an oasis of swamps with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background. Adjacent to Amboseli National Park lies the Kitirua Conservancy. While in the National Park we had to remain inside our Land Cruiser. However, once inside the Conservancy we could leave our vehicle and lie on the dusty ground to get amazing photographs of the herds of elephant, zebra, wildebeests and journeys of giraffe. It was an amazing experience. One I will remember all my life.

Super Tuskers

It is estimated that perhaps less than 24 Super Tuskers remain alive today, spread between the Tsavo-Amboseli eco-system in South East Kenya. Their tusks weigh more than 100 pounds per side.

Elephant tusks are enlarged incisor teeth that show up around the age of two and continue to grow throughout the elephant’s life span of 60 to 70 years.

When I was there at the end of 2023, Craig was 51 years old.

Craig was a peaceful icon of Africa, passing away from natural causes in January, 2026.

MASAI MARA

Focus on Big Cats

Leopard

While in the Mara we saw more leopard than we have on all three previous safaris. They are extremely shy. So, usually they are hard to find.

Cheetah

We checked on this mother cheetah and her two young cubs daily. The rangers in the Conservancy did too. The cubs need to be a bit older and stronger in order to out run predators like hyena.

Lion

Like with all of the Big Cats, it is thrilling to come across them on a game drive.

There is something special about finding lion, even though frequently you will find them sleeping.
